MT-GEI: A new detection system for multitracer

A multitracer technique has recently been developed in RIKEN using a heavy-ion-induced reaction with an intermediate energy of RIKEN Ring Cyclotron. Several kinds of tracer isotopes can be used simultaneously so that various parts of a sample could be simultaneously tested. However, with the present technology, a sample has to be decomposed to confirm the kind of tracer isotope in each part. Multitracer gamma-ray emission imaging (MT-GEI) is proposed to identify the positions of all isotopes simultaneously. This enables us to measure a sample without decomposing it. This has a great advantage when used for living things.
